Local polynomial plotter

Graphing Calculator

Draw a line or parabola from an explicit polynomial in x. Adjust the visible range, read exact sample values, and keep the input in your browser.

Plot a polynomial in x

Use decimal coefficients and powers up to 2. The parser runs locally and never executes the expression as code.

Accepted examples: x^2 - 4, 2x + 1, or -0.5*x^2 + 3.

Try:

Showing y = x² − 4 from x = -6 to 6.

A coordinate plot from x equals -6 to 6. A value table follows the graph.-6-4-20246-7.6-0.46.81421.228.435.6xy

How this graph is drawn

The page accepts a deliberately small grammar: constants, x, x², decimal coefficients, addition, subtraction, and optional multiplication signs. It converts those terms into three numeric coefficients—one each for x², x, and the constant—and evaluates that fixed formula across the selected range.

No general-purpose expression evaluator is used. Parentheses, functions, division, additional variables, and powers above two are rejected with a visible error.

Use the value table with the picture

The SVG makes the shape easy to inspect, while the table gives nine sampled coordinate pairs. That second representation is useful for keyboard and screen-reader users and prevents color or curve shape from carrying the information alone.

Boundary: This plot is a visual calculation, not an independently verified algebra solution. To solve a supported equation and inspect verified transformations, return to the main workspace.

Questions

Graphing calculator FAQ

What functions can this graphing calculator plot?

It plots explicit polynomials in x with decimal coefficients and powers from 0 through 2, such as x^2 - 4, -0.5x^2 + 3x + 2, or 2x - 1.

Does the graphing calculator solve equations?

No. It plots the expression as y equals the polynomial. Use the main Proofline workspace for supported typed equation solving and verified steps.

Is my graph input sent to a server?

The graph expression is parsed and evaluated in your browser and is not sent to the solver API. The parser uses an explicit polynomial grammar and does not execute the text as JavaScript.

Need the algebra, not just the shape?

The main solver handles the supported typed arithmetic and algebra set and withholds confident steps when verification is not available.
